Like all of our clients, We love Carrie Dasuqi. She’s feisty, smart, proactive and the perfect example of becoming your own health expert with the help of Detox Day Spa’s resources and facilities.
When Carrie first came to the Spa, she definitely knew enough about health, diet and nutrition to be dangerous. She is married to downtown Clarkston personal trainer Ahdi Dasuqi. What Carrie didn’t know was she had a yeast problem — and a bad one at that.
“It gets diagnosed as other things, and you just move on,” Carrie said of the candida, noting that she she went to the eye doctor for dizzy spells and got a new prescription for glasses. “You can go into adrenal gland fatigue. You can lose your energy. You can feel sick to your stomach,” she added.
Symptoms of too much yeast in the body include:
- Oral Thrush – Candidiasis that develops in the mouth or throat is called “thrush”
- Tiredness and Fatigue
- Recurring Genital or Urinary Tract Infections
- Digestive Issues, including stomach bloat and gas
- Sinus Infections
- Skin and Nail Fungal Infections
- Joint Pain
Today Carrie is feeling a whole lot better. She is using structured silver get, essential oils like ginger, basil and oregano cut with fractionated coconut oil, apple cider vinegar and enzymes. And, her diet is void of any sugar.
“No sugars at all. No wheat. Even in natural deodorants, you have to be careful with the hops, which is a wheat. You can get an outbreak in the arms, because it’s feeding it there,” she said, adding should eat mostly leafy greens.
Candida Albicans (A.K.A. Yeast) is a fungus which lives and overgrows in our intestines causing an imbalance in the normal bacteria of the colon so that we get less normal healthy bacteria, and more yeast. Candida overgrowth causes sugar and carbohydrate cravings, which can cause your diet to spin out of control.
Candidiasis. Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeasts that belong to the genus Candida. There are over 20 species of Candida yeasts that can cause infection in humans, the most common of which is Candida albicans.
The fungus candida causes a vaginal yeast infection. Your vagina naturally contains a balanced mix of yeast, including candida, and bacteria. Lactobacillus bacteria produce acid, which prevents yeast overgrowth.
The truth is that we all have Candida. It’s a natural part of our digestive eco-system. So you can’t kill it and get rid of it forever. That’s a common misconception, according to ForeFrontHealth.com.
“When I look back at my life, we had infertility issues when trying to have my children. From my research it’s a hormonal imbalance. The doctors never told me anything about that. Had I known I probalby could had have more babies or sooner,” Carrie said.
Candida overgrowth is actually caused by hypothyroidism, estrogen dominance, excess cortisol and their effects on your immune system. You might have heard that 80% of your immune system exists within your gut.
This is because your gut lining produces immune antibodies called secretory IgA which act as a barrier to keep pathogens, bacteria, and Candida from invading your cells.
Candida is an opportunistic organism that only becomes a problem when it has the opportunity to overgrow and work its way up your digestive tract where it doesn’t belong.
That balance can be disrupted and lead to a yeast infection, according to the Mayo Clinic. Glysophate, which is found in many popular tampon brands, can damage beneficial body bacteria.
Carrie’s initial 35-Day Detox protocol — which started with a live blood analysis which revealed massive yeast overgrowth in her blood — included the external detox protocol (ionic foot baths, infrared sauna plus alklaine water flushing), as well as digestive and liver-kidney enzymes, structured silver and an anti-parasitic that includes wormwood, black walnut hull, pumpkin seed and more.
Coconut oil is also effective against yeast! It is rich in saturated fats, especially medium-chain fatty acids, or MCFAs, from which everybody, especially Candida sufferers, can benefit. This has been shown to kill Candida yeast without leading to the development of more resistant Candida strains observed with other anti-fungal treatments.
Foods to avoid during a candida die-off include sugar and sugar alternatives. These sweet items feed on yeast. Fruits like berries, melons, etc. Alcohol, grains, peanuts and dairy — basically anything that can convert to a sugar once inside the body.
Candida die-off symptoms include (many of which Carrie experienced):
- Loose Bowel Movements or Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Flu-like Symptoms
- Muscle or Body Aches
- Fatigue
- Joint Pain
- Brain Fog
