How Detox Foot Baths Helped One Mother Bring Her Daughter Back from the Abyss of Autism

1 in 45 U.S. Children Have Autism

A new government survey of parents suggests that 1 in 45 children, ages 3 through 17, have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This is notably higher than the official government estimate of 1 in 68 American children with autism, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Detox Day Spa recently connected with Kim Campbell of Austin, Texas, on social media. She is mother to a beautiful, lively and energetic daughter Charlotte, 4, who was diagnosed with autism when she was 24 months old. Kim suspected it when she was 14 months old. Kim became her daughter’s health advocate. She became her own expert in autism.

“We started to realize that she was losing skills she had acquired previously (specifically language, eye contact, walking), and I knew deep in my heart that she had autism,” Kim shared with Detox Day Spa via email.

Detox Day Spa found Kim on Instagram one day when she posted a photo of Charlotte’s first detox (ionic) foot bath. Kim’s Instagram account is @cookingforautism. We were curious, so we asked for her to update us on Charlotte’s results over the coming weeks and months. She did.

“We are working so hard to clean up our home and diet and the results have been so much more than we could ever dream. We were told my daughter had severe autism and may never speak and every single day she is blowing us away,” Kim said of the detox (ionic) foot baths.

Q: What Western medications has Charlotte tried?

A: Valtrex, sertraline, leucovorin, compounded vitamins.

Q: What are your theories on what caused her autism?

A: I believe we live in a toxic world, and when you combine that with genetic conditions, such as autoimmune illness, mutations, etc., it can create a perfect storm. My family, as well as my husband’s family, have autoimmune illnesses (psoriasis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.). All three of us have MTHFR mutations, which means that our bodies cannot handle toxins as well as other people’s bodies can.

Q: What made you seek out holistic alternatives?

A: I began seeking out holistic alternatives when modern medicine couldn’t explain Charlotte’s lab results. She had high ANA (1:320), yet the pediatric rheumatologist told us he had no idea why it could be that way, and to come back in 6 months. Charlotte also has high IgE levels and inflammation in her little tummy. A recent stool analysis showed that she has absolutely no lactobacillus and that she has strep in her bowels as well. We were told the strep is “normal” and to seek out skin prick allergy testing. Today, Charlotte’s ANA has reduced to 1:80, her once bloated stomach is flat, and she is happier, speaking more and progressing.

Q: When and why did you try ionic foot baths for your daughter?

A: I had heard about the ionic cleanse during the Austin Education Summit and decided to try it after receiving my daughter’s heavy metal testing results; it became apparent that she is carrying metals in her body and needed help detoxifying.

Q: What were the results of the foot baths and after how many treatments?

A: Charlotte has been on a rigorous schedule of 35-minute foot baths, 3 days on and one day off for exactly three weeks. We saw not much in the water the first few weeks, but small changes in her, so we decided to push onward. By week two, her foot baths were black and frothy. She had 300 words in her vocabulary, but they were used as labeling only. She could not have conversations or even answer yes or no questions correctly the majority of the time. Now Charlotte is actively engaging me in 4-6 word sentences that are more than labeling. She is commenting about situations. Examples would be: Oh, it’s a cute doggie! Where’s my toy? I want to eat bananas. Help me, mommy. TV please—I want Trolls. Charlotte’s motor skills have also improved. She can now use a scooter. She also can jump with both feet leaving the ground. These were skills we had worked on for about 6 months prior to beginning foot baths with little progress.

Q: Would you recommend this treatment to other families in similar situations to yours?

A: Absolutely without any hesitation. Aside from my daughter’s gains, my husband has used the foot baths and his psoriasis has cleared 40 percent by using it a handful of times. I have more energy, sleep better at night, and have kicked sugar cravings related to high yeast using the foot bath 2 times a week for 30 minutes.

Q: Do you have any advice to families out there like yours?

A: Seek out medical practitioners that want to treat the underlying issue of your ailments, not just the symptoms. If you are dealing with low energy, general feelings of malaise or even more serious medical conditions, it is so important to reduce the toxic burden you place on your body, so that it can heal and recover.
